Jacinda ‘Jace’ Berisha died rudely at the hands of her husband before her second life as a Berserker Crow with Skuld’s blessing. Danski ‘Ski’ Eriksen knew little about Berserkers before enjoying his second life as a Protector working with the Crows in preparatiallicon of beating back Ragnarok until he became enchanted watching the introverted Crow enjoy her work.
It’s not just watching Jace work that has bookish Ski wanting to be wherever she is but it is his interest that guides the reader through his clan and moments of laughter when the Ravens come to flex and floss at the Protectors every chance they get. At the root of this read is Jace’s past comes to haunt her and the three clans unit to see that doesn’t happen even though they’re extra busy with their work.
While the characters were overflowing with chemistry amid the mini clutches, bickering, warring and loving this reader found it difficult to get lost in the read. The story was actually good and the characters great investments with worthwhile villains but the pacing seemed to be off, maybe even jerky for my taste. Ultimately, I liked this read a bit but didn’t love this outing nearly as much as I wanted to love it.
