Fish & Chips by Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban

fish & chips

Ty and Zane are learning how to be partners outside the office and present as platonic heterosexual partners in the office environment.  The forced vacation and the dreaded deskwork are finally over. Inadvertently helping the pair cope with those pesky new relationship snags their latest assignment has them going undercover on a cruise as an openly gay couple that are conduits for high value thefts.

There’s more danger than appears on the surface, foreign and domestic government alphabet agencies, people who may or may not know the bad guys better than anyone thinks. Yea, there’s supposed to be a back-up team supporting them, except Zane and Ty don’t know who or where they are and it’s fun not hiding themselves and playing against type impersonating this pair is freeing and kinda fun.

The fun ends as the guys are deep into their roles and someone almost succeeds in killing either Ty and Zane or their alter-egos. Stress and strife are definitely in the mix since the boys thoughts of each other have them wondering if it could be love but don’t know enough about each other yet. They’re still stepping through the euphoric getting to know you part and they’re both afraid of such a big word!

This outing has built in opportunities for humorous situations and laugh out loud funnies, it’s also feels ‘lighter’ than the norm for the series with more affection, romance, playfulness and sex than the previous installments. Series fans will not be disappointed because the intrigue, danger and adventure of this case don’t suffer. For my taste, this entry is as strong as any.
