Techie entrepreneur, Bee Langston is in the middle. The good part about her rising reputation is more appreciation, work and money or all the effort she puts in her coding. The bad part about that same reputation is it’s gained her a stalker. Having a stalker is going to make her swallow her pride and ignore the still freshly remembered humiliation of trying to kiss her brothers friend, Kelly.
Former marine and security specialist Kelly Connolly, is also a bouncer for the hottest club in Houston has taken up way a lot of real estate in Bee’s daydreams and waking mind for the last few years. Little does she know it’s a mutual feeling and situation but Kelly’s also thinking about the deathbed promise he made Bee’s brother to protect and look after her like he would.
It’s a long night because the next call brings Kelly, with Bee in tow, to meeting with his brothers, father and Albanian mobsters who are out of patience over dad’s huge gambling debt. Looking for a way out, the brothers agree, Kelly will represent the Albanians in a few underground cage fights to clear the debt. But Bee has other ideas.
I wanted to like this read more than I did though it’s not my normal read on multiple levels. The story itself had an interesting enough core and the premise bring the personable characters together was good. However, shifting POV’s and character mood swings both annoyed this reader and made me feel as if paragraphs if not pages were missing.
