Caden’s Vow by Sarah McCarty

cadens-vow

After 22 years with Hell’s Eight, Caden’s dissatisfied enough to leave his childhood friends behind. His friends have forgotten they were the most fierce and feared men in the territory, now they’re getting domesticated and all with wives and children, they’re laughing and smiling too. Now that the compound is completed and each of them have their own house, even Tia’s married. It’s time for Caden to go.

Caden’s a miserable cuss on almost every page, even sweet, he’s only Caden sweet, backhanded compliments and all. His character doesn’t allow for changing times or an opinion of his own on something his father had an opinion on. In the search for Ari, Maddie was discovered and brought to the compound by Tracker and as she healed Caden caught her eye and heart.

Caden and Maddie were tiresome and one note about Maddie’s past with so many statements ending in ‘but she is/was a whore’ or implying it without saying the words. Caden’s intent on leaving to work Fei’s buried mine but Bella’s given Maddie encouragement to go after what she wants. When she does, she’s kidnapped.
