Layla’s is making good on her part of the bargain with John, she’s training to be a field agent. The other part of their bargain, her boyfriend and Landon’s friend, wounded warrior, retired Special Forces Lt. Jayson Harmon, has meaningful work at DCO. But with his chronic back issues he feels less than he man he is and when his boss and new friend Dick Coleman hints at a way out.
During surveillance on the crooked committeeman, Thorne, Ivy and Landon, notice Dreya Clark, a feline shifter robbing the house they’re monitoring. After the robbery, Thorne behaves as if Ivy and Landon are in just in case team. Meanwhile Layla goes on her first mission and Jayson takes Dick up on his offer of a serum despite warnings from his friends. Jayson figures out too late that Dick wasn’t honest.
Jayson’s assignment got complicated, the way assignments do and Layla ends up trying to help him. Back in DC, Thorne’s goons are doing their own tracking of the thief. As they begin to circle Dreya, Ivy swoops in with an opportunity. For my taste this outing was much better than the last and definitely had a double helping of action especially when a couple of cases converged.
