Shock & Awe by Abigail Roux

shock-awe

Ty’s Sidewinder buddy, medic Kelly Abbott is grateful team sharpshooter and caretaker Nick O’Flaherty is sticking around NOLA to help him recuperate from gunshot wounds. Knowing each other so well makes it easy for the pair to talk and Kelly asks closed off Nick some of the questions burning his brain, questions about loving teammate Ty Grady and Nick’s sexuality.

Using Ty and Zane’s relationship as a guide, Kelly’s ready to jump into a relationship with Nick with both feet. By the time the pair retreat to Kelly’s Colorado home to complete the recuperation, they’re practically a couple. Kelly was revealed here more than Nick and they did have chemistry but this reader saw more curiosity, consolation and opportunity than attraction.

For my taste their relationship wasn’t forced but it didn’t seem to naturally flow. This good (but not great), easy to read friends to lovers short should be read before Ball & Chain and expands Ty and Zane’s semi-insular world as that series begins to wrap adding Ty’s brothers in arms, best friend Nick and teammate Kelly to their universe.
