SEAL Nathan Malone and his wife Sabella were ridiculously happy and in love beyond reason when he left on a ‘simple’ rescue mission that would also flush out a spy, but the spy was well informed and he was ready. Nathan was captured and his family informed of his death before an escape or rescue plan could be attempted. Inconsolable Bella began the long complicated task of grieving.
After months of drug induced pain and hallucinations coupled with torture followed by rescue, rehab and a bit of therapy, Nathan’s a different man. He’s desolate about what he’d become and unable to share the horrific healing ahead of him with Bella. The wife he wanted to greet the same man she kissed goodbye, not the brute he’d become. She’d know he was alive when he was that man again.
Six years later, fate stepped in. Nathan’s transformation into lean, mean deadly Elite Ops agent, Noah Blake was complete with a new face, properly healed bones and nightmares that still haunted him. A domestic terrorist group has targeted Noah’s former life to gain a foothold. Noah’s team moves in to stop them but Nathan Malone’s feelings for Bella returned the moment he saw her.
This reader was not a fan of Nathan/Noah’s choices though they went to the heart of the read. For my taste the outing worked for intrigue, romance and action with easy to invest in well developed characters. Though some characters from the Tempting SEALS series appear here, this is a foundation for a new group and not a though it backs into its sister series nicely and can easily be read separately.
